Living in Sibiu definitely has its good parts. One of them is that, well, Sibiu is almost in the center of Romania which can only be translated in getting faster to any part of the country. A very good thing especially when you wake up early on a Sunday morning and don’t want to waste a sunny autumn weekend day. So a visit to the Calnic Peasants Fortress seemed like the best thing to do, especially since the Fortress is only about 50 kilometers far from Sibiu.
I did mention before that I am quite fascinated about the Evanghelical Fortified Churches in Transylvania, so every time I see one, I have to check it out. It’s rather the way they are built that attracts me, than the simbol they represent for the religion. As we went to visit the Bruckental Summer Residence some weeks ago, we couldn’t have missed the Avrig Fortified Church, which is actually right accorss the road from the palace.
I’ve never heard of Salman Rushdie before and I can’t really tell how I got to buy this book in the first place. I know for sure that the reviews written on the back of the book and the fact that Salman Rushdie was sentenced to death after writing it, really raised my curiosity to the maximum.
Function aka Dave Sumner presents “Incubation”, his first solo album on Ostgut Ton. Over nine tracks we are guided through the varying moods and scenes of Function’s musical temperament. Be it through writhing layered club tracks, soaring string-led atmospheres, or melodic pieces founded on classic electronic traditions, ‘Incubation’ marks a new level of maturity for the Berlin-based producer.
The second part of the Wild Carpathia series is now out. A very nice documentary about the beauties of Romania, from when entering the border with Serbia until the Danube flows into the Black Sea and forms an amazing Delta. Enjoy!
