I read this book Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer somewhere at the beginning of this year and I found it simply delicious. It has everything a book should have : humour, adventures, suspense, love, friendship.

I enjoyed the subject (a young man from America goes to Ukraine in search of the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazi), but the most I enjoyed the way Foer wrote this book. He managed to build some very realistic characters, full of life and full of humor.

There’s also a very good movie based on this book, with Elijah Wood. The book is really worth reading, but the movies shouldn’t be missed either!

  1. This is the 2nd review of this book I’ve seen this week. I think the Blog gods are telling me to finally read it.

  2. I haven’t seen the movie of this book but I really want too. I LOVED this book, but I think it’s a book that’s not for everyone because it can be quite strange and hard to follow, and the magical realism can get a bit twisted. I LOVED it though – I’m totally on your side of this. : )

    • The book is just great, check the movie, it’s an excellent image of the book, as funny and realistic as the book. Enjoy 🙂
