[Film] The Salesman

I did watch this movie a few months ago, but learning that it has won the best foreign movie Oscar award, I thought it needed a nice review from us.

The drama in this movie is so actual and realistic, that it gave me all these mixed feelings, as a woman, relating to the main character. From comfort and joy in the beginning, to anger, fear and pity in the end. At also a lot of frustration seeing the ending of the movie.

After their old flat becomes damaged, Emad (Shahab Hosseini) and Rana (Taraneh Alidoosti), a young couple living in Tehran, are forced to move into a new apartment. Eventually, an incident linked to the previous tenant of their new home dramatically changes the couple’s life.

This movie attacks all major humanity subjects we are facing nowadays. Religion, human rights, women rights, what’s wrong and right, who should be punished and why, who should suffer the consequences.

It’s also a drama of the main male character, who makes an obsession of finding the man who raped his wife, ending up, destroying his marriage, rather than punishing the quilty one.

Except Toni Erdmann, which I absolutely loved, I don’t know which other foreign movies were nominated in the Oscars, but I guess that this is the politically correct option for a winner.
