Summer is definitely for high altitudes. And the Făgăraș Mountains are so close by, that for us, a few days off from work, a good weather forecast and a couple of friends easily turn into a nice hike up on the ridge.

Winter this year took a longer time than expected to show its face in the city and at lower altitudes in general in Romania, so it left us no choice but to put our hiking boots on, gather warm clothes in a backpack and head towards the mountains, in search of some proper snow.

Hiking the Făgăraș Mountains ridge is, let’s say, one of the main goals of any true hiker and mountains passionate from Romania (although nowadays you meet mostly foreigners on the peaks). The Făgăraș Mountains are the highest in Romania, with heights reaching 2500m and the ridge is the longest in the country – about 90 kilometers.

Finally back on the ridge of these beautiful Romanian Mountains. This trip was so much planned, that just a few days before I wasn’t even so sure we would actually make it happen. But in the end it did happen and it was probably one of the most beautiful and amazing hiking trips we had ever.
