[Ireland] A day in Howth
During our stay in Dublin, we took a one day trip to Howth, which is a small port village, about 30 minutes drive from Dublin. We had an excellent weather for this trip and it was a great place to be on such a sunny day.
We took the bus 31A from Dublin that took us right up the Howth’s Summit. It’s a very nice place to go for a walk on the edge of the cliffs, to have a nice view over the sea and the Howth Lighthouse.
There are a lot of hiking trails, marked very well, so if you are a fan of hiking you can do this all day long. With such a beautiful weather, we did do a lot of walking.
As we went there in May, everything was incredibly green and the view was just spectacular.
We also walked a bit around the village, going down from the summit to the harbor.
In the harbor we stopped for a delicious lunch at the Oar House Fish Restaurant, where we had, of course, some sea food.
Howth is a perfect destination for a tourist visiting Dublin, if you are in search of a quiet day, enjoying some nice weather and a nice walk, with some delicious sea food.
Originally just a small fishing village, Howth with its surrounding once-rural district is now a busy suburb of Dublin, with a mix of dense residential development and wild hillside.
