Today starts in Sibiu the 4th edition of ESTE Film Festival, a celebration of the European film. Between 17th and 21st of April, the most awarded and appreciated European productions (and not only) reach Sibiu.

The festival includes six sections: Best of Europe, Romanian Film, In Frame, CinExplorez, Experiences and the Romanian Shorts Competition.

In the Best of Europe section, the festival brings the most appreciated and awarded European films, almost entirely in premiere in Sibiu. In the Romanian Film section some of the most important new Romanian films are presented and for most of them the cast and the director will join the festival for Q&As after the screenings.

The In Frame section focuses on a director, actor, theme, country or genre through a series of films. This year the section proposes the theme Femmes Fatale, to promote French films with strong female characters and proposes a selection of three films with Anaïs Demoustier.

CinExplorez is a section for the young public and has three films. Experiencies section wants to be a bit more besides the film experience. So they organize The Movies Bedroom, as the name suggests, an experience where spectators stretch on mattresses, with snacks and embark on a film marathon. Another experience is the CineBrunch where a film is associated with a gastronomic experience.

This year’s edition brings the first competition to ESTE Film Festival. The Romanian Shorts Competition where 10 fiction shrot films were selected from among the films enrolled by young directors from all over the country.

I’m not sure if this is the first time that they are doing this, but this year we have a small Outside Europe section which includes 2 films, one from Lebanon and one from Japan.

So, this week we have a real film treat in Sibiu and all the film lovers should enjoy this as much as possible.
