The 4th day of our Saxon Trek was the longest one and marked passing from the Hârtibaciu Valley to the Târnavelor Plateau which is also known as the „Weinland”. Villages like Biertan, Richiș and Saroș were famous for the terraced vineyards they had and for the local wine they produced called “Neuburger”. We walked 26 kilometers from Dealu Frumos to Mălâncrav.
If July and August are, for us, months when we run for the high mountains to escape the summer heat, May is for villages and relaxed country side, with good food, lots of outdoor activities for grown ups and kids and a warm sun for extra good vibes. Mid May, we took off from Sibiu in the direction of Bazna for a nice family weekend away from the city noise.
We were planning such a weekend for a long time, but each time we were considering of actually doing such a trip, we always said that we can leave it for another time, as these places are very close to home and we have some other options further away.
But finally, at the beginning of April, we said that this is it, we are doing it. We wanted to go somewhere with the baby, as the weather forecast was expected to be very good. As it’s still a bit difficult to go on long holidays with the baby, some short weekend road trips, with not too much driving are a good option to spend some time outside the city and explore the world 🙂
